Piers Greville’s work with painting aims to re-view landscape and situate a relationship with our environment. Out of a postcolonial understanding, particularly of the Australian context – Greville explores notions of the ‘anthroposcenic’ through a post-environmentalist framework. As points of departure he paints landscapes constrained along historically critical lines, adjusting his viewpoint to that of data mediated views. He searches beyond the dominant colonial marks for a more expansive history written in the Australian landscape.
Piers is currently completing a Masters Degree at the Victorian College of the Arts.
