VCA Access welcomes you to the exhibition Praxis 5 and is delighted to showcase the talent of these five Australian artists – Holly Block, Jesse Bowling, Farnaz Dadfar, Lucia Rossi and Katie Stackhouse. As a philanthropic initiative
of the Victorian College of the Arts within The University
of Melbourne, we support the next wave of Australian art leaders and see their art as a critical contribution to the expression of Australia’s voice. We believe close relations between Indonesia and Australia, and its respective art institutions, must be built on a foundation of understanding and respect and see the opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in an Indonesian art residency as one step toward this aspiration. A special thank you to Konfir Kabo and Jumaldi Alfi for making this residency possible.
We hope the experiences shared, relationships formed and discussions had, will deepen our country’s understanding of Indonesia and that this exhibition provide a small window for viewers into Australian mindsets, experiences and perspectives. We look forward to continuing the ongoing dialogue and friendship between our two art communities and hope that you enjoy this exhibition.
